CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra is planning a special memorial concert celebrating the late Maestro Erich Kunzel.

Details will be announced at a future date.

Maestro Kunzel died Tuesday after a four-month battle with cancer.

On Thursday, Sept. 3 and Friday, Sept. 4, the public will have an opportunity to sign a memorial book on display outside in front of Music Hall between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Kunzel's funeral will be a private family gathering in Maine.

The Pops still plan on performing the series of concerts Kunzel was scheduled to conduct during the 2009-2010 season, including the season opening performances on Sept. 11-13.

Jack Everly, Principal Pops Conductor of the Baltimore and Indianapolis symphony orchestras, Naples Philharmonic Orchestra and National Arts Centre Orchestra (Ottawa) will conduct the program, which will celebrate the music of John Williams with Star Wars actor Anthony Daniels narrating.  Memorial tributes for Maestro Kunzel are also being planned for these concerts.

The Pops launched a special memorial web page where the public is encouraged to view photos from Maestro Kunzel's celebrated career, as well as post tributes and remembrances. The Pops is also accepting cards and notes for Mr. Kunzel's family at the organization's Music Hall office located at 1241 Elm Street in Cincinnati, Ohio, 45202.

Meanwhile, city council voted Wednesday to put up signs designating "Erich Kunzel Way" along Elm Street near Music Hall, where the Pops perform.
