School closes due to H1N1

ALEXANDRIA, KY (FOX19) - A northern Kentucky high school is closing its doors for at least four days to hopefully stop the spread of the H1H1 virus.

In a letter sent to parents and posted on the school's Web site, Bishop Brossart principal Richard L. Stewart says, "We are taking steps to prevent the spread of flu in Bishop Brossart High School, but currently flu conditions in our community have become more severe."

The school will be closed from Tuesday, Sept. 22 until Friday, Sept. 25. School officials will then reassess the situation with the Northern Kentucky Health Department on Friday.

"We will keep you informed of when students may return to school," wrote Stewart.

Stewart says teachers will continue to post assignments on the school's Edline site.

All school activities will be canceled during the week, including all sports practices and competitions. The school already canceled last Friday's football game against Elizabethtown.

FOX19 will have more on this story tonight on the FOX19 Evening News at 6 p.m.
