HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - A juvenile charged in a fatal stabbing in West Chester appeared in court Tuesday.

The 17-year-old faces a complicity to commit murder charge for allegedly supplying the knife that killed Amber Robinson, 15. Khrendon Gray, 18, is charged with her murder.

On Tuesday, Amber's family appeared in court for the teen's preliminary hearing. The wore T-shirts bearing her image with a poem written on the back written by a friend reflecting her loss.

"From talking to other parents who've gone through this, we'll probably never know why," said Amber's mother, Tascha Robinson. "It was just senseless."

Attorneys for the 17-year old are trying to make the case that their client is not responsible for stabbing Amber.

Amber's mother says the support from the community, the neighbors, church and school has been a blessing and that she and the rest of the family are still trying to deal with the face that she is gone.

"She loved cheerleading when she was younger and as she got older she liked to take care of children, other people's children," said Tascha Robinson. "She was just happy, she brought out the best in everybody and she tried to take care of everybody, and we just really miss her."

Attorneys for both sides, along with the judge, agree a decision needs to be made on whether or not the 17-year-old should be tried as an adult. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 13.
