NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - Replicas of two of the most famous ships in history will be in northern Kentucky this week.

Replicas of the Nina and the Pinta, two of the ships Christopher Columbus used when he said across the Atlantic to the Americas in 1492, will be on display.

The Nina is the most historically accurate replica of a Columbus ship ever built, and the Pinta was recently built.

The ships will be on display to the public daily from Sept. 25 to Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Newport's Riverboat Row.

The ships have a new and enhanced sailing museum that educates the public on the caravel, a Portuguese ship used by Columbus and many other explorers.
