CAMPBELL COUNTY, KY (FOX19) - Campbell County Police and Alexandria Police have made five arrests in a string of burglaries across the county.
Campbell County Police Chief Keith Hills says there have been 12 burglaries since Sept. 1 in the unincorporated areas of the county. Items that were taken included TVs, gaming systems, guns, money and jewelry.
"If the item has a value, and they cannot take it, they will destroy it," said Hills. "We had one in one house, they threw a pumpkin through a thousand dollar TV."
Police say two of the suspects, John Casey and Dustin Rhodes, of Milford, robbed three houses one afternoon. They were stopped by police on the AA Highway with the stolen items.
"One said Alexandria, they heard, had money, and if you wanted to steal something, go to Alexandria," said Det. David Halfhill with Campbell County Police. "Obviously they were wrong."
Alexandria Police said the same thing about three other suspected burglars they caught on Thursday, too.
Police say a homeowner on Springwood Drive happened to be there as Joshua Stephenson and a juvenile broke in to his house.
"There are folks who work the night shift, and this gentleman happened to be home, and it worked out in our favor," said Lt. George Schreiner with Alexandria Police.
Police say Allison Nagle drove the getaway car in this case, and they all came from Covington.
The police department has an alert on its website for people in the community. Police say there could be more suspects out there, and urge residents to be on alert.
