Miami University Student dies from H1N1 virus says Mass. paper

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - A Miami University student has died and the H1N1 virus according to a Massachusetts newspaper.

Matthew Healy died Saturday and the H1N1 virus is being blames as a the cause according to an article in the Patriot Ledger.

Healey was a Miami University freshman from Hingham, Massachusetts. He recently graduated from Thayer Academy and became ill after arriving to Oxford according to the headmaster.

Miami University has confirmed the death of the student, but cannot confirm the cause.

Miami University will have counselors meet with students in Healey's residence hall. Thayer Academy will hold a remembrance ceremony this week. Counselors will also be at the school for students, alumni, and current students at Thayer Academy.

Earlier this week, a Miami grad was thought to have died from the H1N1 virus, but the Toledo Blade says that it was viral pneumonia.
