EVANSTON, OH (FOX19) - Family and friends are mourning the death of a 13-year-old boy who was killed in a hit-and-run over the weekend.

A vigil of stuffed animals, flowers and balloons now sits in the place where Dayshaan Ballew was suddenly killed Saturday evening.

Ballew was the oldest of four kids and had just turned 13 years old.

"Everybody was screaming and hollering trying to catch the driver," said Sikia Ballew, Dayshaan's cousin. "I never looked at her. I never even seen the car. This was too much here."

Family members and witnesses say a female driver, who police say may have been driving a late model gold Honda Accord, rounded the corner at Clarion lost control, and ran onto the sidewalk, hitting Dayshaan and his 7-year-old cousin, who miraculously survived.

That driver and her passenger took off.

"This is our nightmare. We just want her to turn herself in.," said Sikia. "I'm over the part of him passing. I know he got his wings. I'm just so pissed that she could do this and ruin our lives like this."

Dayshaan, or "Day Day" to his family and friends, loved football and his family. He lived with his grandmother, Regina Ballew, and she says she'll miss every single thing about him.

As for the person who killed him, Regina Ballew says that person must not have a conscious.

"He had to look like a child to her," said Regina.
