1 dead, 4 hurt in Grant Co. crash

DRY RIDGE, KY (FOX19) - One person is dead and four people are injured after a crash in Grant County.

It happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon on Ky. 36, approximately one mile east of U.S. 25.

Police say Darlene Skinner, 50, of Berry, crashed her Ford Escort head-on into a Chevy Cobalt driven by Troy Beckelhimer, 38, also of Berry.

Skinner and her passenger, Gary Skinner, 52, were taken to UC hospital with serious injuries. Gary Skinner was pronounced dead on Wednesday.

Beckelhimer and two juvenile passengers were transported by EMS to St. Elizabeth Grant County with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident is under investigation at this time. Alcohol is not considered to be a factor at this time.

Police say Gary Skinner was wearing a seatbelt; Darlene Skinner was not.  All occupants of the Cobalt were fastened in with either a belt or child safety seat.
