COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A northern Kentucky soldier home on leave from Iraq has been indicted for a fatal crash.

Prosecutors say Riley Ealy, 26, was driving drunk last month when his car ran off Amsterdam Road, killing his passenger, James Fry, 25, of Walton.

Ealy was charged Thursday with second-degree manslaughter, first-degree wanton endangerment and drunken driving.

Paul Dickman, Ealy's lawyer, said the soldier is a combat engineer who had been in Iraq for nine months and had won a Purple Heart.

The soldier was ordered to remain at Fort Campbell on the Kentucky-Tennessee line.
