COLLEGE HILL, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati Police have arrested a student who they say had a gun on the campus of Aiken High School Tuesday morning.
A short time after 9 a.m., the security officers at Aiken High School reported that there was an 18-year-old male on the campus with a gun. Officials say the student showed the gun was found in a locker.
Police were called to the scene and 18-year-old Terron Cornelison was arrested after a short foot chase. So far, there is no word on charges.
One of the security officers was treated from minor injuries. Police say Cornelison showed the gun to someone, but there were no shots fired.
The school was locked down for over an hour. None of the students were hurt.
"Anytime there's even a mention of a potential of a weapon in a school we obviously take that very seriously we take all the necessary precautions to make sure it's a situation that doesn't get out of control," said Sgt. Danita Kilgore with Cincinnati Police.
A Cincinnati Public Schools Spokesperson tells FOX19 that Cornelison is subject to an expulsion from the school. Federal law says that students can be expelled if weapons are brought onto school property.
