Second swine flu death reported in Northern Kentucky

Posted by Trina Edwards - email

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - The Northern Kentucky Health Department has reported its second death from H1N1 complications in as many days.

Health officials say a Kenton County woman in her 60s died from medical complications of the swine flu. The woman had serious underlying health problems prior to her death.

Health officials also reported a swine flu death in Northern Kentucky on Tuesday.

"Our thoughts go out to the individual's family," said Steven R. Katkowsky, M.D., District Director of Health. "The two reported flu deaths this week, while unrelated, is an unfortunate reminder of how serious influenza can be."

In Kentucky, 18 deaths have been reported, including the two in Northern Kentucky.
