MONROE, OH (FOX19) - Police in Monroe are searching for a man who raped a woman in a parking lot last week.
The victim told police she pulled into The Parkside Inn to talk on her cell phone when a man opened her car door, dragged her from the vehicle by her hair and raped her.
Authorities say the 36-year-old woman reported the attack last week, minutes after the assault. At that point, she was interviewed by police and taken to Atrium Medical Center where evidence and DNA was collected.
"There were some very specific things that he said to her while she was being raped," said Det. Ken Parson with the Monroe Police Dept. "However we'd like to hold that back just in case we are able to link him to any other rapes in the area, because what he said was distinctive."
Police in Monroe are also working with police in Middletown, who had a rape with a similar series of events about two weeks earlier.
"It's fair to say at this point that there are no other rapes linked to this person," said Det. Parson. "That is at this time, but that may change as more evidence comes in."
Monroe police say the victim parked her car last Thursday around 8 p.m. and that is when the incident happened. They also talked to people staying in the hotel, but no one saw anything.
The suspect is described as a clean-shaven white man in his mid-30s, with a medium build, 5'16" to 5'11" with dark eyes and short, dark hair.
"We did have a person on interest detained this morning but we were able to eliminate him with the help of the victim," said Parson.
