CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Next year's census will create 24,000 temporary jobs in Ohio.
According to local census workers, 800 jobs will go to Butler County, 800 to Clermont County and more than a thousand in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Walter Carter, who is looking for work, is checking his emails from Cincinnati USA Super Jobs, he gets job alerts just about every day.
"Anything from banquets, maintenance, call centers, it's moving along," said Carter.
And Walter is not alone. Thousands in the area are in the same boat, according to Al Thompson the interim director of Cincinnati Super Jobs.
"Average 2,000 folks a month looking for a job," said Thompson. "Every month. And every month job counselors work with job seekers to help them and they now have some good news."
"Thousands of jobs will be here at the census area that covers Hamilton County from Cincinnati downtown, out," said George Conner, office manager of the Cincinnati Census.
They need to fill field positions before March. The pay is anywhere from $8.25 to $19.00 an hour. There is a test involved, and positions will fill up fast. For more information call 1-866-861-2010 or www.census.gov/detroit
