DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -- The Ohio State Highway patrol is investigating a fatal accident involving a high school senior that occurred Friday evening.
A short time before 9:00pm, 18-year-old Ryan Sawyer was traveling southwest on US 42. According to officials, he lost control of the vehicle, struck a concrete island and went airborne. The car landed on Butler-Warren Road and struck a steel traffic light police.
Sawyer was taken out of the vehicle by mechanical means and transported too Bethesda North Hospital. He died shortly after arriving.
OSHP says that drugs are suspected in the crash.
Sawyer was a Senior at Princeton High school. He played cornerback for the Vikings Football team.
"He was a great kid, in great standing at the high school, super popular, " said Princeton High School Principal William T. Sprankles III. "Just a great, friendly, outgoing kid."
The incident remains under investigation.
