FORT MITCHELL, KY (FOX19) - HAZMAT crews were in Fort Mitchell on Thursday, spending much of the day cleaning up an acid spill.
The spill happened on Dixie Highway over the I-75/71 overpass just around 8:30 a.m. when a tractor trailer began leaking hydrofluofilic acid.
Teams from Boone County, Campbell County and Greater Cincinnati Hazardous Material responded to contain the spill.
The truck was carrying four 3,200 pound containers of hydrofluofilic acid and a 26,880 pound cylinder of chlorine. About 30 gallons of the hydrofluofilic acid leaked from a ruptured tank.
As a precaution, Dixie Highway was shut down for several hours. Central Trust Bank was also evacuated as a precaution. No one has been injured.
