Truck driver arrested after claiming he was robbed by man posing as officer

VERONA, KY (FOX19) - A Pennsylvania truck driver was arrested in northern Kentucky Tuesday after he told police he was robbed at gunpoint by a man posing as a police officer.

Javier Londono, 26, of Hazelton, Pa., told police he was robbed of $500 while his semi was parked on the exit ramp in Verona.

On Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at approximately 7:10 p.m. a Hazelton, Pennsylvania truck driver was arrested after he told sheriff's deputies he was robbed at gunpoint in Verona, Kentucky by a man posing to be a police officer. He said a man pulled up and showed him a badge, then robbed him a gunpoint.

When the officer asked for specifics, Londono's story changed until he finally admitted he made the whole thing up and he had actually lost the money gambling at a truck stop.

Londono is now charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident and was taken to the Boone County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $2,000 bond. He faces up to one year in jail and/or a $500 fine.

Londono is a driver for Arvi Transportation out of Sugarloaf, Pa.
