CONNERSVILLE, IN (FOX19) - $500,000 heading to a small Indiana town, to help rehabilitate a vacant factory where a startup company wants to build high-tech police cars.
Carbon Motors hopes to create more than 1,000 jobs at the old Visteon plant.
The money is left over from a from a landfill cleanup project.
A federal judge decided Tuesday the former landfill is now stable, and allowed the money to be transferred to cleanup the former Visteon site.
The $500,000 is about one-eighth of the $4 million estimated cost of the project. Connersville also plans to use $350,000 from the trust fund to redevelop the landfill site, perhaps turning it into a park.
