Bearcat Nation: Bound for New Orleans

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The last time UC fans saw their Bearcats, it was a snowy day in Pittsburgh, and Brian Kelly was leading the team to the school's first undefeated season.

Things will be a lot different in New Orleans.

For starters, weather will not be a factor for players or fans - the climate-controlled Superdome keeps the thermostat right around 70 degrees.

But the biggest change will undoubtedly be the absence of head coach Brian Kelly, who's in South Bend gearing up for his first season with Notre Dame.

A Sugar Bowl win will have to come under the leadership of interim head coach Jeff Quinn, who served as the team's offensive coordinator this season.

Quinn also has plans to leave the team at the end of the season, but the instability hasn't shaken the team's confidence.

"We're not really worried about who is coaching us or leading us. We're just ready to go," Senior Receiver Mardy Gilyard said during media day in New Orleans.

The oddsmakers don't share Gilyard's optimism - the Bearcats are 12-point underdogs going into Friday's game.
