WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - Imagine finding a real lamb's head lurking inside your new microwave.

"It's pretty shocking to hear that," said David Crotty.

It is shocking, but it's exactly what the staff at the West Chester Ikea found - a frozen lamb's head sitting inside an Ikea microwave.

"A lamb's head?"  said Ikea shopper Kristi King in disbelief.

Yes, an actual lamb's head,  found by an employee. West Chester Police were called to Ikea on Dec. 16 for a criminal mischief report.

"Someone had placed a frozen lamb head inside one of the microwave displays at Ikea, we believe it's a prank,"  said Sgt. Joe Gutman of the West Chester Police department.

Officers say staff at Ikea had disposed of the lamb's head and all other contaminated merchandise prior to police arriving.

"This prank was discovered very quickly by Ikea employees and they were able to clean up the issue and correct the problem, " Gutman said.

Meanwhile shoppers are still in shock over the long lost lamb head.

"Who would do something like that? Kids these days," King said.

And some say they'll be mulling over their merchandise extra carefully before they leave the store.

"I think I'll be checking those microwaves out there, I'll be checking the ovens, the couch cushions and see what might be lurking," Crotty said.

West Chester police did obtain surveillance video, but it did not show the area where the incident happened, they have no suspects at this time. Officials at the Ikea West Chester did not return our calls for comment.
