CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A police chase that ended in a crash snarled traffic on Interstate 75 Thursday morning and led to the arrested of one man.
Police say Muhammed Isamail Abdullah, 39, of Dayton, Ohio, robbed the U.S. Bank at the corner of 4th and Elm around 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning. He got away with an undetermined amount of cash, but after a vehicle description was broadcast, he was quickly spotted by Vortex units.
"We had him in our sights the whole time," said Cincinnati Police spokeswoman Sgt. Danita Kilgore.
Abdullah then led police on a low-speed chase through the Clifton, Spring Grove and Northside areas. Police deployed stop sticks before the suspect traveled onto southbound I-75. The stop sticks caused damage to his front two tires, and when he tried to accelerate, he spun out and crashed.
Two lanes of I-75 were shut down for about an hour while police cleaned up the debris.
Police found cash on Abdullah and in his car. A weapon was not found, but one was implied during the bank robbery. Abdullah was taken to the bank for identification and then taken to the hospital for observation. Kilgore said he did not have any visible injuries.
