CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati councilwoman Leslie Ghiz announced Monday that she is running for the Hamilton County Commission.
Ghiz has formed a committee to support her bid of becoming the first female commissioner elected since Sandra Beckwith in 1990. Hamilton County Sheriff Simon Leis is serving as her campaign chairman.
"I have been honored to serve the citizens of Cincinnati as a member of the City Council for the past four years and am eager to put that experience to work for the people of Hamilton County," said Ghiz in a statement.
Ghiz was first elected to city council in 2005 and was re-elected in 2007 and 2009. She lives in North Avondale with her husband, Steve, and son, George. She will continue to serve city council during her campaign.
