LOCKLAND, OH (FOX19)  - A scare inside a local police station lands two officers on suspension.

Lockland Police confirm the incident happened inside the station back on October 22, 2009. Lockland police spokesman Lt. Terry Wilkerson said Officer Lyons left his gun on a table and then left the room. Wilkerson said Officer Robert Godbey then picked up the weapon and accidentally fired it. Police said the bullet landed a few inches away in a nearby desk.

Officer Brandon Gehring was in the front office during the incident. Wilkerson said he was not in the line of fire. Gehring was injured last spring in a police chase on I-75. At the time of the incident, Gehring had been back on the job for almost two weeks. Lockland police say no one was injured in the incident.

Officer Lyons and Officer Godbey both received three days suspension last November.
