UC Clermont looking to expand

BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX 19) --Just several months after its purchase, the old Ford plant in might have it's first tenant.

New owners, IRG based in California, is dividing the facility into industrial condos. One of the new sections might be the new location of UC Clermont's nursing program.

Officials at the University of Cincinnati said nearly 70,000 square feet of office space is being considered in the expansion of UC Clermont. The nursing and allied health two and four year programs could be moved there.

UC vice president of administration and financing, Bob Ambach, says students like having access to a higher education so close to home.

"Obviously part of our vision as educators is to continue expanding service by UC and its saving students money, saving them time from traveling to the main campus and that is important during these economic times," Ambach said.

A final decision by UC is expected in the coming weeks.

Developers hope this is just the beginning of growth for that project.
