COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A woman was sentenced Monday for striking a Kenton County deputy with a pick up truck.

Barbara Flack, 49, was sentenced to 17.5 years behind bars after she hit Deputy Bret Lovell while he was outside his cruiser in Covington in May of 2009.  Lovell spent about a week in the hospital.

Flack was originally charged with tampering with evidence when police thought that Jeffrey Beatsch was behind the wheel. However, it was determined later that Flack was the one driving. The pair fled the scene when the accident happened and were caught after a short chase.

Flack was sentenced for the tampering with evidence charges and assault of a police officer.
