Newport man sentenced for distributing child porn

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A Newport man was sentenced Monday for distributing child porn.

Edward Faulkner, 44, was sentenced in federal court to 235 months in prison, which is five months shy of the statutory maximum penalty for the crime.

In October of 2009, Faulkner pleaded guilty to the charges and admitted that he used an online file sharing service to receive and distribute images of child pornography over the internet. Faulkner admitted that he was responsible for 723 images and more than 50 videos that depicted children engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Some of the images involved toddlers and others contained sadistic and masochistic conduct.

Under federal law, Faulkner must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence, and, upon release, will be under the supervision of the United States Probation Office for life. Faulkner will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The investigation was conducted by the Kenton County Police Department and the United States Postal Inspection Service.
