Local distributor uses craft beer to help Haiti

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) – Based in Blue Ash, Ohio, Cavalier Distributing is a craft beer distribution company covering the entire state of Ohio.

After hearing of the devastation in Haiti, Cavalier President George Fisher resolved to raise funds with something that most everyone would enjoy – beer. For every case of beer the Cavalier sales force sells the week of January 18, Cavalier will donate $1 to Haiti relief through the American Red Cross. Additionally, Cavalier will match any donations that employees make during the week. To wrap up the drive, the entire Ohio sales team will be coming to downtown Cincinnati to participate in a fundraiser event supported by one of the premier craft brewers in the country, Stone Brewing Company. This event will be at MainStay Rock Bar beginning at 5pm on Thursday January 21, 2010.

The event at MainStay Rock Bar will be attended by Stone Brewing Company's regional sales rep and fellow Cincinnatian, Jay Ashmore. MainStay will have many Stone offerings and limited release beers both on draft and in bottle for the evening. Donations will be accepted for the American Red Cross all evening long. Additionally, there will be a raffle for many donated items from various local businesses such as Taylor Jameson Hair Design, Skincraft Tattoo and Piercing, Shake It Records, and more. The true prize for the auction is a highly sought-after and valuable series of beers from Stone, a collection of their Stone Vertical Epic from the 2003 vintage complete through the 2009 release. This collection of beers is designed to be cellared until the year 2012 at which point all will be released and ready to drink.
