MT. ORAB, OH (FOX19) - One officer involved in a deadly shootout in front of the Mt. Orab police station is back on the job. The other will return sometime next week.
Investigators say 61-year-old George Ruby was arrested the evening of Jan. 3 and booked for drunk driving. He was released to his family.
Later that night, Patrolman Justin Conley was walking to his cruiser, when Ruby ambushed him and shot Conley in the back.
Another officer, Christopher Hodges, heard Conley's calls for help, fired at Ruby and killed him.
Mt. Orab Police won't say which officer is back on the job and which is still on administrative leave pending the end of the Ohio State Bureau of Criminal Investigators' examination of the case.
