Woman's throat cut during robbery attempt

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) - Two people are in the hospital after a robbery attempt in Middletown.

It happened Sunday morning in the 2400 block of Easton Ave.

When police arrived to the scene, they found a 27 year old female bleeding from the hands and throat area. Further investigation revealed the woman was robbed and had  her throat cut during the process.

Police say Neco Sheard, 19, knocked on the door of the victim's house and then demanded money and when the victim refused, Sheard pulled out a knife and held it to her throat and during the struggle, her throat was cut.

After a brief struggle, the victim was able to get away and go to a neighbor's house for help. The suspect fled from the area and was located at Douglas and Sutphin bleeding from the head.

Both the victim and suspect were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Sheard has been charged with aggravated robbery and felonious assault and will be taken to jail after he is released from the hospital.
