MONROE, OH (FOX19) - Monroe Primary School is looking into accusations of inappropriate touching involving two elementary age students on a school bus.

"It's shocking and kind of scary knowing that my son is on the bus, and rides the same bus at that age," said Monroe Primary School parent Lee Campbell.

It's shocking for parents to hear that two students from Monroe Primary School were allegedly engaging in sexual behavior on a school bus.

"There was some touching that was inappropriate, of a sexual nature, we do know that it involved inappropriate activities with pants being unzipped," said Monroe Schools Superintendent Elizabeth Lolli.

Lolli says it happened last Wednesday on the way home from school, she won't say the age or gender of the children because of privacy laws, but the two were sharing a seat on the school bus, another student who witnessed the incident told her parent who then notified the school.

"The bus driver indicated to them, stop horsing around, stop playing around, the bus driver was not aware that it was to the extent of pants being unzipped," Lolli said.

Lolli says there is a camera on the bus, but it wasn't on at the time of the incident.

"Since this has occurred, the camera is on from now on, on that bus as well as a monitor," Lolli said.

An adult supervisor on the bus at all times - still the sexual acts involving young kids is difficult for both parents and administrators to grasp.

"I'm very surprised and I'm very sad that this type of situation could happen with young children," Lolli said.

"We moved here for that reason four years ago for the small community, good schools, so especially with the schools it is surprising," Campbell said.

Both students were suspended from school for three days, and the bus for six days. Monroe Police and Butler County Children's Services are still investigating.
