Maualuga apologizes to fans via Twitter

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga has apologized to fans via Twitter about his drunk driving arrest.

Maualuga, 23, was arrested early Friday morning in Covington after he hit two parked cars and a parking meter. Police say his blood-alcohol level was nearly 0.15, nearly two times the legal limit.

"Sorry for bringing humiliation n embarrassment to this Organization n to dis great city of Cincinnati," Maualuga said on his Twitter account. "To Bengals nation n my fans, sorry for letting you guys down n for doing wat I did. I hope dat u guys continue to support me n all I do!

"I kno its gonna be hard to believe me but I will do everything in my power to gain ur trust back! I will definitely learn from this!" he continued.

Maualuga was released from jail Friday morning on his own recognizance after pleading not guilty. He has a court date set for Feb. 25.
