GREEN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Two people are dead after an early morning crash on Interstate 74.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. on the westbound side of the interstate near the Northbend Road exit.

Police say a 1992 Chevy Cavalier wagon operated by Mary Kraus, 60, of Harrison, was traveling westbound when it was struck from behind by a 2007 Jeep Liberty driven by Michele Knapp, 23, of Cincinnati.

Kraus and her backseat passenger, Nicole Riddle, 27, of West Harrison, Ind. were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the front seat, Wesley Kraus - son of Mary Kraus and boyfriend of Riddle - was injured and taken to University Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Knapp was taken to Franciscan Western Hills for minor injuries and was treated and released.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts; however, Riddle and Wesley Kraus were not.

Police say alcohol and/or drugs are considered factors in the crash, but no charges have been filed at this time.

The crash closed the westbound lanes of I-74 for about three hours.
