CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) –

A local man featured last year on Fox 19's Faith Works is planning a mission trip to South Africa.  Cole Jackson, his mother, Teri and sister, Cami will travel to Mamelodi, South Africa to be a part of a mission trip through Crossroads Community Church. They are asking for help.

Over the past four years, Crossroads has sent more than 1,400 people to work with its partner church, Charity and Faith Mission Church in Mamelodi, South Africa. Mamelodi is a township community of nearly one million people that is being ravaged by HIV/AIDS, crushing unemployment and poverty, and a population of orphans that is growing rapidly.

Cole says, "My mother, sister, and I have experienced tremendous spiritual growth over the past few years and we are thrilled to take part in a family trip to help those less fortunate than ourselves. In Mamelodi, we will be planting sustainable vegetable gardens, repairing and building homes, playing with and teaching children about God, visiting AIDS patients, and praying with people in the community."

The Jackson family is also asking for donations for the mission trip.  The family must raise $9,000 by Feb. 15.

Cole says, "More than anything, I would value your prayers for my family and those whose lives will be touched by God, through us. I believe God answers prayers, and I am asking you to pray for safety, good health, smooth travel, and spiritual growth. This is a journey God has called us to and we would greatly appreciate any level of support you may offer."

Cole and his family are hosting a wine tasting event on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 to help with the fundraising even. It will be held at Stone Creek Restaurant on Montgomery Rd., near Jackson's alma mater, Moeller High School.  A silent auction will be part of the event.

Donations will be accepted online, and checks can be made payable to Crossroads. More information is provided at:
