CONNERSVILLE, IN (FOX19) - A pilot was able to walk away from a plane crash at the Connersville Airport.

It happened a short time after 3 p.m. A single engine aircraft had been damaged as it tried to land at the airport.

The pilot, Adam Beck, 30, of Mulberry, Ind. was uninjured in the crash. His plane, a 1964 Piper Cherokee, sustained major damage.

Investigation revealed that Beck lost control of the aircraft, with it skidding off the east side of the runway. The wing had contacted the ground causing the aircraft to spin counter clockwise back onto the runway where it came to rest.

Connersville Police, Fire and EMS initially responded to the scene.  The FAA was contacted and will be on the scene Friday to continue the investigation. Investigators said there were some areas of ice and snow on the runway at the time of the mishap.  The investigation is ongoing.
