Theft from WalMart leads to chase and arrest

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -- Two men are under arrest after a theft from a department store turns into a traffic pursuit.

Colerain Police received a call to respond to a theft in progress at the WalMart store, located at the 10000 block of Colerain Avenue. According to police, a man was taking merchandise and concealing it in a plastic tote bin.

When the first patrol units arrived on the scene, they saw a green Pontiac Transport van speeding out of the parking lot. The van struck another vehicle, but kept driving, leading police on a traffic pursuit.

The chase traveled west on I-275, reaching speeds of 100 mph and then onto eastbound onto I-74. A Green Township Police officer was able to lay down stop sticks and stop the vehicle at the 12 mile marker. The driver and passenger were both arrested and taken into custody.

27-year-old Tracey Fraley was discovered to be the original suspect in the theft from the Walmart. He was charged with felony theft of $ 1, 544.47 worth of health and beauty items and criminal trespassing. He was banned from all Walmart stores from a previous shoplifting incident.

42-year-old David Earls was charged with reckless operation on private property, leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended licence, complicity to felony theft and failure to comply.
