Cincinnati (FOX19) - Sometimes it takes serious bad weather or a major crash to put a NASCAR race on hold, but this time it was just a pothole.
NASCAR's biggest race, the season-opening Daytona 500, was delayed most of the afternoon after a pothole a couple feet long appeared on the track early in the race. The race, which began around noon, was delayed for a long time while they patched the hole, but the pothole quickly reopened under the pounding from the nearly-200-mile-an-hour stock cars.
The event was stopped again as they worked on a more permanent repair. The race was nearing a conclusion as 7 p.m. approached.
Since the FOX broadcast was running late, FOX19 had to postpone the Allstate Gospel Superfest, which was recorded recently at the Cintas Center at Xavier University in Cincinnati. The program has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 20 at 6 p.m.
