ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A man suffered serious injuries after a train vs. car crash in Butler County.
It happened just after 11 a.m. Monday at Augspurger Road near U.S. 127. Police say preliminary investigation and witness statements indicate the a vehicle driven by Robert Brim, 47, of Hamilton, was going northbound on U.S. 127 and attempted to make a turn eastbound onto Augspurger Road when the car slid off the pavement and onto the railroad tracks. The car was struck by a southbound CSX train.
Brim was ejected from the car and sustained extensive head and leg trauma. He was taken to the hospital.
The railroad crossings along U.S. 127 were closed for approximately 3.5 hours.
Also in Butler County Monday, a 12-year-old boy was injured when a car he was riding in struck a building.
This happened around 10:30 a.m. on Millvale-Oxford Road. Police say a vehicle driven by Laura Smithers slid of the road, into a parking lot and struck a building. Smithers and a 12-year-old boy were taken to the hospital for treatment. Their conditions are unknown.
The building sustained moderate structural damage.
