BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Because of the budget, the Butler County Sheriff's office announced that more employees are going to lose their jobs.

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones announced that 15 Sheriff's office employees will receive layoff notices on Thursday.

The Sheriff's Office budget was reduced in 2009 and again in 2010. Five deputy sheriffs and ten corrections officers will begin to receive their notices with an effective date occurring in about a month.

"We continually track expenditures and it became obvious that layoffs were needed in an attempt to meet our restricted budget," says Chief Deputy Dwyer. "This is a first step, if revenue and expenditures remain constant, additional cuts may be necessary."

Counting the recent layoffs, 50 positions have been eliminated since the beginning of 2009.
