Update: Vanity Fair writer responds to Cincinnati outrage

CINCINATI, OH (FOX19) - The war of words between the people of Cincinnati and Vanity Fair Magazine columnist A.A. Gill is getting hotter.

Mr. Gill made a recent visit to the Tri-State touring the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY.  In the article, Gill wrote,"It's not in the nature of stoic Cincinnatians to boast, which is fortunate, really, for they have meager pickings to boast about."

That one line caused an uproar for people living, and loving the Queen City.  So much so, the magazine issued a response.  In a posting on it's website, Vanity Fair wrote a rebuttal dripping with condescension towards those who responded to Gill's words, including a response by Gill.

"You misunderstand the difference between enjoying living somewhere and enjoying visiting it," writes Gill.  "For example, pigs like living in mud, but you wouldn't want to sleep over."

And he's getting even more of a response, from local blogger Katie Crossen among others.  Crossen blogged about all the things that make Cincinnati great.  And the numbers of responses on the Vanity Fair website are mounting.
