FRANKLIN, OH (FOX19) - Two men are behind bars after a theft from the Franklin Wal-Mart.
Just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the Wal-Mart on a report of a shoplifting that had just occurred and a suspect who fled in a dark-colored vehicle.
A suspect had stolen a microwave from the store, and when the loss prevention officer attempted to stop him, he refused to back to the loss prevention office, pushed the officer out of the way and got away in an awaiting vehicle.
The suspect was located a few minutes away by a Franklin officer on SR 73 just west of Baxter Drive in Franklin. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop. The pursuit entered Middletown and went in and around the neighborhood of the old Middletown Hospital and finally ended in an alley behind the 2400 block of Superior Avenue.
The driver and passenger were both taken into custody. The driver was identified as Donald L. Lewis, 42, of Middletown. He is charged with felony fleeing and eluding, driving under suspension, complicity to robbery and possession of a dangerous drug. The passenger was identified as Henry "Joe" Rice, 45, also of Middletown. He is charged with robbery and possession of a drug of abuse.
Both men were taken to the Warren County Jail.
