CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A teenager accused of hitting and killing a 13-year-old boy with a car has been found mentally incompetent to stand trial.

Kellisha Whitterson, 18, faces several charges, including involuntary manslaughter and aggravated vehicular homicide, for the death of Dayshaan Ballew, 13.

Whitterson says she was driving because her passenger was drunk. Police say she was driving without a license when she rode up an Evanston sidewalk in September of last year, striking and killing Ballew. She also hit Ballew's 7-year-old cousin, but he was not injured.

A judge ruled that Whitterson would be tried as an adult in November, but during a competency hearing on Wednesday, it was determined that she was mentally incompetent to stand trial and she was sent to the Summit Behavioral Center for evaluation.

A hearing on March 17 will determine the result of that evaluation.
