SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) -- Officials have arrested the man who they say shot an off-duty police officer in North College Hill on Friday night.

The Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) arrested 37-year-old Keenan Childs for the shooting of off-duty Cincinnati Police officer Thomas Owens.

The shooting happened at Tom's Drive- Thru in North College Hill around 9:00pm on Friday. Officer Owens intervened during a fight in the store and was later ambushed outside in the parking lot by Childs. He shot the officer in the abdomen and fled the scene.

Officer Owens was transported to University Hospital where he is listed in stable condition. Owens is a School Resource officer and the head coach of the varsity boys basketball team at Shroder High School.

Early Sunday morning, SOFAST received information that Childs was hiding out in the Sharonville area. Deputy U.S. Marshals and Task Force Officers located the suspect at the Econo Lodge on Chester and Kemper Roads in Sharonville.

Childs is now being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center where he is charged with felonious assault.
