CLAIR TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -- The Butler County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident where a man was struck and killed by a train early Sunday morning.
Around 6:30pm Deputies were called to the railroad crossing near the 2300 block of Hamilton Eaton Road for a report that a man was lying near the train tracks.
Officials say the found 45-year-old Michael Vowell of Hamilton dead along the tracks.
The Butler County Coroner's office was called to the scene shortly.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the train that reported the incident was not the train that struck Vowell, and that he was hit earlier in the night.
The railroad crossing was closed for nearly three hours while officials were on the scene.
The incident remains under investigation by the Butler County SHeriff's office and the Butler County Coroner's Office.
