COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - Prosecutors say the prescription drug writing practices of a Kenton County psychiatrist are now under investigation.
Dr. Douglas Rank has already been charged with assault after police said he attacked a female patient with a sword in February.
Now, investigators with the Covington Police Department, Kentucky Attorney General's Office and State Medical License Board are looking in to Rank's practices of writing prescriptions for some of his patients.
Prosecutors say questions raised in the assault case led to this separate investigation.
Kenton County jail Chief Deputy Scott Colvin says his patients have been trying to keep appointments with him, even though he's in jail. Colvin says some patients have offered to drop off his prescription pad.
Deputies have had to turn away several patients. Colvin says the requests have been denied, as prisoners are not allowed to practice their trade in jail.
