MADISON TWP., OH  (FOX19) - The brutal beating of a 2-month-old Masterpiece, a baby alpaca, isn't just sparking outrage it's spurring action from the community.
"It's terrible, and I just thought maybe just to show them we care as a community, it would really help them out," said Madison High School senior Cole Fennel.
When Fennel heard about the fatal beating allegedly by two teens who used to attend his own school, he felt compelled to do something.
"I posted something on like a local blog and the community just really supported it they came up with ideas," Fennel said.
Now there's talk of making T-shirts, having  fundraisers and even fish frys, all for the sake of baby animal that will never truly be replaced, but will always be remembered.
"I'm just trying to raise as much as I can," Fennel said.
The alpaca was valued at $8,000, and the goal is to raise that money.
"I'm going to accept donations, I'm setting up and account that will go straight to the family tonight," Fennel said.
So, what started out as posting one a community forum, has snowballed into a community picking up the pieces in the name of Masterpiece.
"It's just been really uplifting to see a community come together like this," Fennel said.
