UNION, KY (FOX19) - A Gray Middle School teacher is on administrative leave after being arrested over the weekend at Ryle High School.
Police arrested Michael Woods, 58, on Saturday while he was at rehearsal for a play at Ryle High School.
According to the police report, a student accused Woods of assaulting him. Woods was charged with two counts of alcohol intoxication in a public place.
Police say Woods told them he had been drinking cold medicine.
He was released from the Boone County Jail after posting bond.
Woods' attorney, Eric Deters, said in a press release that Wood is innocent.
"He was not intoxicated. He never assaulted any student. He had not been drinking at all," said Deters. "He should have never been arrested. He hopes the school district, after an investigation, will life the administrative leave and allow him to return to work."
