CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A pair of local civil rights leaders pled not guilty Thursday to criminal trespassing charges.

Christopher Smitherman, the president of the Cincinnati chapter of the NAACP, and Dock Foster, the president of the Baptist Ministers Conference, were both arrested Wednesday on a construction site at North Avondale Elementary.

They men were allegedly taking part in a protest over the lack of minority contracting in construction projects for Cincinnati Public Schools.

"We are going to get African Americans on these work sites one way or another," said Smitherman.

Foster has a pretrial hearing set for March 31 and Smitherman has one set for April 1.
