Two robberies in Hamilton possibly connected

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -- Police have taken a person into custody after two robberies that may be related.

Just before 4:00pm, the Hamilton Police were called to two different robberies in the area. The first incident occurred at the Discount Tobacco, located at the 1000 block of Main Street at 3:42pm.

The suspect entered the store, claimed to have a gun and demanded money. The store clerk. who was armed with a gun, fired one shot and missed the suspect, who was able to get away, but without any money.

The second robbery occurred at Dablets Market, located at the eh400 block of N. 3rd Street at 3:54pm. The suspect entered the stores, displayed a knife and demanded all of the money.The clerk gave the suspect an undetermined amount of money and fled the scene.

Officers and Detectives were able to determine that the robber was holed up in a house on the 300 block of N. 6th Street. The home was quickly surrounded and SWAT was called to the scene.

After SWAT crews attempted to negotiate with the suspect with no success, tear gas was used to force the suspect out. The suspect, who was hiding in the attic gave up and was taken into custody.

Accounts for several eye witnesses, lead the Police to believe that the robberies are related. The suspect is now being interviewed by authorities and had not yet been charged in the connection of the robberies.
