CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - There is a long list of reasons to be optimistic when it comes to March basketball and our hometown basketball teams.

The Xavier Musketeers will be making their third straight appearance in the NCAA "Sweet 16" as No. 6 seed XU defeated No. 3 seed Pittsburgh 71-68 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament

Musketeer Madness overtook the Xavier student union as faithful fans settled in for a big and crucial game. It was rematch of Pittsburgh's victory over Xavier in last year's NCAA tournament.

"It's great, it's absolutely great a lot of great energy here that why we come over every year," says Kelly Powell, a Xavier fan.

"I mean they have just done really good job about getting the Xavier community out into the Gallagher Student Center they have had events where they're using projectors and both teams have done really well," says Andrew Viglion, a Xavier student.

From students and alumni to fans of all ages, everyone made Xavier men's and women's basketball a priority this Sunday.

The Xavier women's team, who is a 3-seed in the tournament, beat East Tennessee State 94-82 on Sunday. They will play Vanderbilt on Tuesday.
