WEST UNION, OH (FOX19) - A man has been arrested and charged for the murder of his grandfather.
Thomas Hargrave, 43, is in the Adams County jail charged with aggravated murder and aggravated assault for the death of his grandfather, Franklin Holland, 75, and the assault of his grandmother, Maxine Holland, 84.
Police responded to the 300 block of East South Street in West Union around 10:40 p.m. Sunday night.
A neighbor had called 911 after Maxine Holland came to their home seeking help. The caller reported Franklin Holland was injured inside the residence and the suspect was inside armed with a gun.
When police arrived, Hargrave charged out of the front door and began a confrontation with officers. He was tased and taken into custody without further incident.
Police then entered to find Franklin Holland had been stabbed to death.
Maxine Holland was taken to the Adams County Regional Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
A motive to the crime has not been released. Police say Hargrave had been living with his grandparents for the past 13 years.
