CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A period of snow that turned onto ice on tri-state highways led to a whole series of crashes around the area early Friday morning.
In a short period of time, the reports included a car hitting a house on Ohio 128 in Crosby Township, a car spinning around on westbound 275 in Crestview Hills, and a car flipping on its top on I-71 north of Pfeiffer Road in Symmes Township.
At roughly the same time there were reports of a multiple car crash on 275 west of Colerain Avenue, and wrecks almost across from each other at 275 and 126 and 275 and Blue Rock. All of these were in Colerain Township.
Another wreck was on 275 near 42 in Sharonville, with another on southbound 71/75 in Erlanger that had cars off on both shoulders.
Roads continued to be icy Friday morning, especially in the area around I-275 and I-71 interchange, where several other accidents were reported.
Wrecks weren't the only problem overnight. Union Township in the Eastgate area saw nearly 1000 Duke Energy customers lose power full a while late last night. Then the same area had another problem: the rain that was falling last night before the snow started caused Ohio Route 32 to be closed near I-275.
This was because of a damaged retention pond that dispatchers say sometimes floods the road instead of draining when there is a lot of rain.
